The average price for a gallon of gasoline in New York state is $3.10, down two cents from last Monday. According to AAA of Western and Central New York, the New York State average one year ago was $3.62. The national average is $3.12, also down $0.02 from last Monday.
For drivers who use diesel fuel, the national average price for diesel is $3.49, down two cents from last Monday. The New York average is $3.85, down two cents from last week.
The summer driving season is underway, and while gas prices normally peak this time of year, drivers are getting a reprieve. The national average for a gallon of regular is $3.12, down two cents from last week. Pump prices are 33 cents cheaper than last June, thanks to this year’s consistently low crude oil prices. Currently, the oil supply in the market outweighs demand. June gas prices haven’t been this low since 2021.
According to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand decreased from 9.45 million barrels per day to 8.26 million b/d this past week. The total domestic gasoline supply increased by over 5 million barrels while overall gasoline production was down slightly.
