The average price for a gallon of gasoline has dropped one penny in the last week.
The New York State average on Monday is $3.44. The national average went up three cents over the last seven days to $3.31 per gallon. According to data from the Energy Information Administration, the U.S. is winding down its dependence on the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which it has drawn from over the past year to add to market supply and bring down prices at the pump.
The New York average for diesel is $5.27, down a nickel from last Monday and up from $3.76 one year ago.
