Gas Prices in New York Dip Slightly, National Average Holds Steady

SHARE NOW

The average price for a gallon of gasoline dropped one penny from one week ago in New York. According to AAA of Western and Central New York, the state average was reported on Monday to be $3.67.

The average price for diesel fuel is also down a penny from last week. The New York average reported on Monday is $4.38

According to AAA, for a second straight week, the national average for a gallon of regular gas drifted lower after April’s big rise in prices. Oil prices remain in the $78 to $82 a barrel range, showing little movement from a week ago, and that has helped gas prices stabilize. In addition, according to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose only slightly last week, while the overall supply of gasoline also inched up. Moderate demand, ample supply, and steady oil prices are the recipe for quiet moves at the pump and could see prices remain relatively flat ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.
