Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.59, no change from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.58.
One day after Memorial Day, the New York State average price for a gallon of gas is $3.67, down three cents from last Monday. AAA of Western and Central New York reports the average is down for cents from one year ago. The national average is $3.59, up one penny from the same week in 2023.
Motorists are benefitting from oil prices that remain in the high 70s to low 80s per barrel. In addition, the Biden Administration’s decision to release 1 million barrels of gasoline from the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve leading up to the Fourth of July is having a regional benefit as well.
Diesel prices are moving down. The national average price for diesel is $3.86, down four cents from last Monday. The New York average is $4.33, down three cents from last Monday.
