SHARE NOW

Gas prices in New York remain steady this week, with the state average holding at $3.17 per gallon—unchanged from last Monday. While New Yorkers pay slightly more than the national average of $3.14, both figures are down compared to a year ago. One year ago, the average price in New York was $3.56, and nationally it was $3.45.

Diesel costs are down slightly. Diesel prices this morning are down three cents to $3.71 compared to last week. The New York average is $3.91, down one cent from last week.

Gas prices remain steady as summer travelers continue to enjoy road trips, families prepare for back-to-school season, and college students get ready to return to campus. The Energy Information Administration says demand is down slightly, and supply remains abundant. OPEC + – a group of oil-producing countries – recently announced it will be boosting production again next month, following several other increases this year. This morning, oil prices remain in the mid $60s per barrel. Analysts are keeping a close eye on potential hurricane activity that could impact gas prices if a storm hits a refinery.
