SHARE NOW

A fundraiser has been launched for the families of the two law enforcement officers killed Sunday night in Salina.

The fundraiser seeks to raise half a million dollars to benefit the families of Lieutenant Michael Hoosock of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen.

The two men were shot while investigating a car complaint. The alleged shooter, 33-year-old Christopher Murphy of Salina, was also shot and killed. Another person was taken into custody.

Lt Hoosock was also a member of the Moyer’s Corner Fire Department and past deputy chief. He leaves behind his wife, Caitlin, and three children, ages three, five, and seven.

Officer Jensen joined the Syracuse Police Department in February 2022. In December 2023, he was awarded Officer of the Month. He leaves behind his parents and sister.

The fundraiser has been organized on behalf of the families by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department PBA and Syracuse Police Department PBA in conjunction with Law Enforcement Officer Weekend Inc.
