Fulton County Basketball Coach Charged After Hair Pulling Incident

SHARE NOW

Former Northville High School girls basketball coach Jim Zullo has been charged with harassment following a postgame hair-pulling incident involving senior Hailey Monroe. The charge comes a day after Zullo issued an apology and three days after the Northville Central School District fired him.

Video from the NFHS Network showed Zullo pulling Monroe’s hair as the team waited for the medal presentation after their loss in the Class D state championship game at Hudson Valley Community College. Zullo later told NEWS10 ABC in Albany that the incident occurred after Monroe directed an expletive at him when he instructed her to shake hands with the opposing team.

Hudson Valley Community College confirmed that a complaint was filed with its Department of Public Safety, leading to Zullo being issued an appearance ticket for second-degree harassment. He is scheduled to appear in Troy City Court at a later date.

While Zullo released an apology on Sunday, he declined to provide a statement when asked by the Albany television station.
