Four people are collectively facing over 200 charges after a search last month of a farm in Chenango County.
According to State Police, multiple agencies responded to properties located on Clark Lane and Pig Farm Lane in the Town of New Berlin on April 26 to serve a search warrant. Over two dozen animals were found dead with a further 107 found neglected. The animals were removed and included horses, swine, cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, cats, and a llama.
44-year-old Dominck Brown was charged with nine felony counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and 95 misdemeanor counts of Overdriving, Torturing, and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance.
74-year-old Jane Richards was charged with 9 counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and 87 counts of Overdriving, Torturing, and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance.
56-year-old Helen Goude and 60-year-old Katheriena Goude each face two Aggravated Cruelty to Animals charges and three for Overdriving, Torturing, and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance.
The four were arrested on May 16 and issued appearance tickets for New Berlin Town Court.
Troopers were assisted by, New York State Environmental Conservation, New York State Forest Rangers, New Berlin Police, Chenango County and Susquehanna SPCA, and the Office of Emergency Management.
