The former chief of the Irondequoit Police Department is headed to federal prison.
Alan Laird was sentenced Wednesday to six months incarceration for falsifying tax returns for his private security company. Back in September, Laird pleaded guilty to defrauding the federal government out of hundreds of thousands of dollars when he and his business partner cashed checks from clients at a check business. Laird and his partner admitted to not reporting the amounts on their taxes and didn’t report them correctly into the business’ bank account.
In addition to prison time, Laird will serve six months of home confinement along with an additional six months on probation.
