FLX Services Receive Funding for Mental Health, Substance Abuse Treatment

Nearly seven million dollars in federal funding is coming to support youth mental health initiatives and substance abuse disorders across the state and two Finger Lakes groups will get a portion of the money.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand made the announcement that Cayuga Counseling Services will receive nearly $574,217 ass part of the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative.

Finger Lakes Area Counseling and Recovery Agency will get $499,999 to through to benefit homeless individuals. FLACRA services are available in Clifton Springs, Canandaigua, Farmington, Newark, Geneva, Penn Yan, Watkins Glen, and Rochester.

“Mental health is a critical part of youth wellbeing and growth,” said Senator Gillibrand. “I’m proud to announce this federal funding which will help ensure individuals with mental health conditions and substance use disorders have access to vital support and resources. I will continue fighting so everyone has the behavioral health services and resources they need.”

The funding, allocated through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, will develop and support school and community-based programs and services as well as expect access to substance use disorder treatments.
