State Police report a fatal snowmobile accident in the town of Worth on Thursday.
According to a preliminary investigation, two men were riding snowmobiles on Junction 306, a snowmobile trail near Waite Road, around 1 p.m. One operator had stopped along the trail and dismounted his snowmobile when the second operator, coming over a hill, was unable to stop in time and struck him.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he was pronounced deceased. Authorities say the operator involved showed no signs of impairment, and the incident appears to be accidental.
The investigation remains ongoing.
