Empire Access, a Northeast fiber-based internet service provider, announced on Thursday that its fiber network service is now available to area businesses and residents in Cortland. In a news release, the company said its fiber optic internet service aims to deliver reliable connectivity, drive digital transformation, and provide the region with new opportunities for economic growth.

The new service adds to Empire Access’ roster of communities throughout New York and Pennsylvania. Service to Cortland is now live in most areas and will continue to roll out as construction of the fiber buildout finishes, which is expected to be fully complete by Early Spring, 2025.

Residents and business owners throughout Cortland can now sign up for Empire Access’ internet service suite with leading speeds up to 1 Gbps for businesses and 2 Gbps for residents and reliability thanks to its fiber optic network, the fastest and most reliable form of internet services available. Fiber connectivity allows people living and working in areas like Cortland to fully embrace the power of the modern internet for both personal and professional use, including improved work-from-home capabilities and better business use, making the region more attractive for new business activity.

In addition to Wi-Fi connectivity, Empire Access customers can receive phone, streaming, and security services as part of its suite of services.

“Our goal is to provide communities like Cortland with the right tools to help advance their online capabilities and empower residents and businesses with the gold standard of the modern internet,” said Kevin Dickens, CEO at Empire Access. “We’re reaching these communities to provide internet and a full stack of services which they might not have access to otherwise. We’re excited to officially join Cortland’s community and offer our services.”

Empire Access added that it recognizes the connectivity gap affecting underserved Northeast communities that lack access to the same quality internet services as metropolitan areas. To ensure it maintains deep roots in the communities it serves, Empire Access staffs locally to ensure its 24/7/365 customer service understands customers’ needs.
