SHARE NOW

An Elmira woman is accused of burning a police officer with a cigarette and she was being arrested.

Police were called to St. Patrick’s Apartments in Elmira late Saturday night for the report of people using drugs in a common hallway outside of an apartment. After talking to the resident and guests of the apartment in question, officers discovered that 37-year-old Kasey Magar had an active warrant for her arrest.

As police attempted to arrest Magar, she reportedly resisted, retreated to her bedroom and slammed the door on officers. Magar allegedly struck one of the officers in the face and placed a lit cigarette against the back of his neck after he slipped on some clothing that was on the cluttered floor. After being taken into custody, Magar was charged with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

The Officer who sustained the minor burn injury was treated by Erways Ambulance Paramedics and is expected to return to duty.
