An Elmira man will be spending time behind bars after being convicted in Chemung County Court of murder and attempted murder charges.
James Lee was convicted of killing Shida Gilliam and attempted murder and assault for an attack on another person during the early morning hours of May 26, 2018.
According to the Chemung County District Attorney Weeden Wetmore, when the 51-year-old Lee is sentenced on January 24th he faces 25 years to life for the murder charge and a maximum sentence of 25 years for the assault and attempted murder charge. All sentences will be served concurrently.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
