New York State Police have arrested a 43-year-old Elmira man following a reported disturbance at a residence in the Town of Southport.

Troopers say they were called to a home on Universal Avenue around 3 p.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a disturbance. An adult resident told officers the suspect was causing a disturbance inside the home and had a stun gun.

According to police, the resident said the man repeatedly activated and waved the device near them, causing them to fear for their safety.

Troopers located the suspect inside the residence and recovered the stun gun as evidence. The man, identified as Christopher Decker, was taken into custody without incident.

Decker is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

He was processed at State Police in Wellsburg and arraigned in Southport Town Court. Decker was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to return to court on February 12.
