The 79-year-old Central New York man who allegedly shot his wife in the head has been formally charged.
At around 12:30 pm on Sunday, Onondaga County 911 reported it received a call from Sherman Cottrill stating he shot his wife Donna Cottrill twice. Onondaga County Sheriff’s, NYS Police, and Camillus Police arrived and Sherman Cottrill was taken to Crouse Hospital complaining of chest pain and is in police custody at the hospital. His wife Donna was taken to Upstate Hospital, where she remains in critical condition due to her gunshot wounds.
Sherman Cottrill, of Elbridge, has been charged with attempted murder and criminal use of a firearm and was arraigned on Monday via video.
