With tickets for admission, parking, and the Midway set to go on sale Tuesday, The Great New York State has announced the return of DINOSAUR EXPEDITION for all 13 days of The Fair’s run.

DINOSAUR EXPEDITION at The Great New York State Fair – featuring more than 60 true-to-life-size, prehistoric, life-like dinosaurs – will transform the Expo Center into something resembling 65 million years ago beginning Wednesday, August 21, Opening Day for The Fair. The must-see, family-friendly exhibit features dinosaurs that range in size from hatchlings measuring three-feet tall to full-grown massive creatures that loom as large as 35 feet and span up to 80 feet. Visitors will be able to walk through the indoor experience at their own pace, taking in the wonders of 65 million years ago, including the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus, and Stegosaurus.

“The Fair is the perfect opportunity for family-friendly memories and fun and if you didn’t get a chance to see this interactive, immersive exhibit last year, you won’t want to miss it this summer,” said Fair Director, Julie LaFave. “The technology behind the movements and sounds that bring these dinosaurs to life is incredible and leaves you feeling as if you’ve been transported back in time. We’re so happy to partner with Immersive Productions to bring this one-of-a-kind exhibit to fairgoers and to note that access is included in the cost of an admission ticket to The Fair.”

Educational components of the exhibit include:

  • Story Time: Every hour on the hour, DINOSAUR EXPEDITIONS will host Story Time, a 10-minute session where a dinosaur – chaperoned by a member of the “Crewasaurus” human team – will read a dinosaur-themed book to children out loud. Each Story Time session is first-come, first-served and open to 30 participants at a time.
  • Fossil Dig and Skeletons: Participants of all ages will also be able to learn through a hands-on “Fossil Dig” experience. Plus, there are multiple skulls and fossils of prehistoric creatures to admire.

There are also interactive features, including Photo Ops and Selfie Spots. Several displays – including an opportunity to climb into a dinosaur egg and a fully animatronic dinosaur – serve as prime selfie destinations, satisfying fairgoers who have a social media flair. Visitors of all ages will also be encouraged to interact and dance along to an animatronic Dinosaur Band and show off their skills in daily Dinosaur Dance Parties.

“Both myself and our Dinosaur crew are extremely excited to return to The Great New York State Fair this year with a brand-new set of prehistoric creatures,” said Matt Flynn, Chief Operating Officer of Immersive Productions. “We’re taking over the Exhibition Center with life-like dinosaurs that move so realistically, you’ll believe they’re real. Come out and be the first to experience these amazing creatures!”

The DINOSAUR EXPEDITION exhibit opens every day during The Fair at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 9:00 p.m. when the Exposition Center (and all buildings) close.

The Fair starts Wednesday, August 21, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2. All concerts and grounds entertainment, including DINOSAUR EXPEDITION, are included in the price of admission, making The Great New York State Fair one of the most affordable, value-packed state fairs in the country.
