An annual holiday tradition returns to Onondaga County later this month.
Back for its 31st year, Skaneateles’ Dickens Christmas sees the village turn the clock back to 1842 as actors playing characters such as Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge, and Washington Irving take to the streets to bring A Christmas Carol to life.
“Her Majesty Queen Victoria and I are so very excited about our return to Skaneateles,” says producing director Jim Greene, who plays Dickens. “We look forward to some roasted chestnuts and all the singing and celebration that is part of the holiday magic we find in the village. Our hearts are filled with glee as we look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.”
Other festivities include caroling, trunk shows, and a snowman-building contest. For a full list of activities, visit skaneateles.com.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another fun-filled holiday season — and the wondrous gift that is Dickens Christmas,” says Hilary Fenner, executive director of the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
Dickens Christmas begins November 29. It will then run on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00-4:00p through December 22. The final performance will be on Christmas Eve from 12:00-2:30p.
