A downstate Democrat on Tuesday urged state and federal inspectors general to investigate Gov. Kathy Hochul over what he called a “multi-billion dollar boondoggle.”
Congressman Ritchie Torres accused Hochul’s administration of pre-selecting a vendor for the state’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) before allowing other vendors to bid. The program provides medical services for individuals with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Torres claims Hochul awarded the $9 billion contract to Public Partnerships LLC (PPL) and blocked the state comptroller from reviewing the selection, alleging it was a biased decision.
The letter (see below) was sent to New York Inspector General Lucy Lang and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Christi Grimm.
Torres represents New York’s 15th Congressional District, which covers most of the South Bronx.
