    Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches, with localized amounts up to 22 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

    Until 7 PM EST Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Snowfall will likely be very heavy at times this afternoon into the evening with hourly rates potentially exceeding 2 inches per hour. The snow tapers down this evening. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

Death of Inmate at Onondaga County Jail Under Investigation

An investigation is underway into the death of an inmate at the Onondaga County Jail.

Timothy Green reportedly experienced a medical episode in the Jail’s Infirmary on Thursday before being taken to Upstate Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 48-year-old had been receiving medical treatment at the jail for what was described as being ongoing medical issues since being incarcerated on January 25th for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating this incident. The NYS Department of Corrections and the New York State Attorney General’s Office have been notified and will take over the investigation.
