State Police say a York, Pennsylvania man has been charged following an assault at Santillo’s Sausage food stand at the New York State Fair early Sunday morning.
At around 12:53 a.m. on Sunday, authorities responded after reports of an altercation between two employees. Investigators say 25-year-old Branden Brown, of York, was involved in a verbal dispute during cleanup and struck the victim in the left cheek with a culinary knife, causing injury.
The victim was transported to Upstate Hospital for treatment. Brown initially fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody without incident.
He has been charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, both class D felonies. Brown was arraigned at Onondaga CAP Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
