With the state of highly pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in New York State and across the country, Cornell Cooperative Extension has announced two upcoming webinars to help small farms and backyard hen owners make informed decisions about their animals, managing diseases, and how to keep their flocks safe from HPAI.
The first webinar is titled Raising Laying Hens for Eggs: Is it all it’s cracked up to be? Among the topics discussed will be local regulations for chicken ownership, costs of owning a laying flock, and best practices and regulations for selling eggs.
The second webinar is titled Avian Disease and Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza – the latest updates and what it means for poultry health. Dr Jarra Jagne of Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Dr Chad Wall of the New York Department of Ag & Markets will provide updates on the HPAI outbreak, symptoms, lookalike diseases, other small flock diseases, and how to keep your birds safe.
Raising Laying Hens for Eggs: Is it all it’s cracked up to be? will be held from 6:30-7:30p on March 11. Registration can be done here.
Avian Disease and Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza will be held on March 18 from 6:30-8:00p. Registration for that webinar can be done here.
