Application fees will now be waived for those looking to cultivate marijuana.
The state’s Cannabis Control Board voted Thursday to waive the licensing fee for Adult Use Conditional Cultivators for two years.
“Farmers are the backbone of our State, and we’re making sure the family farms across New York that are building our cannabis industry have a real chance to succeed,” Governor Hochul said. “I have made it clear that New York State needs to issue more dispensary licenses and kickstart cannabis sales in New York, and this two-year promise to Adult-Use Conditional Cultivators will make sure these farmers can reap the benefits of this growing industry.”
Depending on the license tier and canopy size, license fees can range from $4,500-$40,000. The waiver applies to those transitioning to non-condition licenses, including cultivation and microbusiness licenses.
The board also issued 114 new licenses, including 45 for retail dispensaries and 31 for microbusinesses. As the third year of legal marijuana in New York approaches, the state has 88 licensed dispensaries.
