Pope Francis has died at the age of 88. Francis led the world’s Roman Catholics since March of 2013 when he was elected to replace Pope Benedict the 16th, who resigned. Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in 1936, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Francis was the first Pope from the southern hemisphere and the first born outside Europe since the 8th century. He was also the first Jesuit Pope.
A Solemn Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis will be offered on Friday evening, April 25, at 7:00 p.m., at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Rochester.
