Binghamton Firefighter Killed in Line of Duty After Wall Collapse

A Binghamton firefighter lost his life while battling a third-alarm fire on Main Street Wednesday night.

According to city officials, firefighter John Gaudet died after a wall collapsed during firefighting efforts. Gaudet, an 11-year veteran of the Binghamton Fire Department, was known for his dedication and service.

Two other firefighters were injured in the blaze and transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment. Both have since been released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Binghamton Fire Department is being assisted by the Binghamton Police Department and New York State Fire Investigators from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
