Gas prices are continuing to fall across New York. The state average now sits at $3.16 per gallon, down two cents from last week and eight cents lower than a year ago, according to AAA Western and Central New York.
For comparison, the national average is $3.08, down five cents from last Monday and twelve cents lower than this time last year.
As autumn settles in, gas prices across New York continue to ease. The state average for regular gasoline is now $3.87 per gallon, down two cents from last week, according to the Energy Information Administration.
Nationally, the average price has dropped to $3.11, as gasoline demand hits a four-month low. The seasonal switch from summer- to winter-grade fuel and higher gasoline inventories at the end of the third quarter are also helping to push prices lower — a trend expected to continue in the coming weeks.
Oil prices remain steady in the low to mid-$60s per barrel, while diesel prices are also slipping. The national average for diesel is $3.65 per gallon, down three cents from last week.
