The average price for a gallon of gasoline across the Empire State on Tuesday is $3.47. According to AAA Western and Central New York, that average is down three cents from last Monday. One year ago, the New York State average was $3.89.
For drivers who use diesel fuel, the New York average is $4.10, down four cents from last Monday.
AAA Western and Central New York says gas prices continue to decline following a busy Labor Day weekend. The arrival of September means cheaper winter-blend gasoline is almost here, which will help to further take pressure off pump prices. According to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose last week, likely reflecting the last hurrah for summer travelers. Unspectacular gasoline demand paired with a relatively steady supply and falling crude oil costs may cause pump prices to slide further.
