AAA of Western and Central New York reports the New York State average for a gallon of gasoline is $3.62, down three cents from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.70. The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.45, down eight cents from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.59.
Diesel prices are also moving down. The national average price for diesel is $3.79, down six cents from last Monday. The New York average is $4.28, down three cents from last Monday.
Gasoline prices took another trip south this week, falling eight cents since last Monday to $3.45. According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand dipped last week, meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks jumped up. On Monday, oil prices rested in the mid-70s to low 80s, dropping slightly from last Monday. Tepid gasoline demand, increasing supply, and falling oil costs will likely lead to the continued fall of pump prices, offering motorists some savings as we move into the unofficial start of summer.
