
One area pharmacy chain will soon offer life-saving medication without a prescription.
Kinney Drugs has announced an over-the-counter version of NARCAN nasal spray will be available at its stores beginning Thursday, coinciding with International Overdose Awareness Day.
“The opioid crisis is one of the largest public health issues of our time and it’s continuing to escalate with the rise of synthetic opioids such as Fentanyl. NARCAN Nasal Spray saves lives, and we want to support NARCAN accessibility for the health of our customers and communities,” said John Marraffa, R.Ph., President.”
The nasal spray is used during opioid overdoses to reverse the effects the victim is experiencing while waiting for emergency medical personnel.
There will be no age limit required to purchase the medication and ID will not need to be shown either.
NARCAN comes with a price tag of $44.99 for a two-pack.
