President Donald Trump has nominated Kevin Warsh, a financier and former Federal Reserve board member with deep ties to New York’s Capital Region, to be the next chair of the Federal Reserve.
Warsh, who would succeed current chair Jerome Powell when his term ends May 15, was born in Albany and raised in nearby Loudonville. He attended Shaker High School in Latham before going on to earn degrees from Stanford University and Harvard Law School.
Currently, Warsh serves as the Shepard Family Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Economics at Stanford’s Hoover Institution and Dean’s Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
