Adult-Use Cannabis License Application Deadline Monday

SHARE NOW

The New York State Office of Cannabis Management adult-use application window will close on Monday afternoon at 5. The application window has been open since October 4th and includes the cultivator, processor, distributor, retail dispensary and microbusiness applications. According to the state, the application window will close promptly at 5 and the Office will not consider applications submitted after that date and time. More information about what you can expect after the application window closes can be found on the Office’s website.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Resolve Application Deficiencies Quickly: After the application window closes, the Office will conduct a random order sequencing process of all applications submitted in this window to determine the order of application review. The random order sequencing process is further described in Question #10 on the Office Application Frequently Asked Questions. Once the Office has started reviewing applications, applicants will be asked to cure any deficiencies identified on the application. These deficiencies will be communicated to the primary contact identified on the application via e-mail. The e-mail will prompt applicants to resolve any deficiencies by logging back into the New York Business Express Portal and curing the deficiencies in the application system. Please respond to all deficiencies in a timely manner as it could impact the processing time of your application.

Note: There is only a set number of licenses available for this application window, as outlined in Question #2 on the Office Application Frequently Asked Questions. Not everyone who applied in this application window will receive a license, and the order of application review will be determined by the random order sequencing process described above. When finalized, the Office will make available the results of the random order sequencing process so applicants know the position of their application in the queue.

  • The Type 3 Processor License will Reopen in Early 2024: The Office is announcing that the application window for the Type 3: Packaging, Labeling, and Branding (including for the performance of white labeling agreements only) Processor license will reopen in early 2024. Due to strong interest in this license type, the Office understands the importance of making sure brands who want to participate in the New York market are able to. More details will be shared in the future about the reopening of the application window.
