A new year is approaching, and with it comes the release of a beloved tradition for canal enthusiasts in Central New York.
The Canalway National Heritage Corridor will release its free 2026 Erie Canalway calendar beginning Monday, Dec. 1, at libraries and visitor centers throughout the region.
The annual calendar showcases winning photographs from the Erie Canalway’s popular photo contest, highlighting the beauty, history and everyday life along New York’s famous canal system.
“Each year the calendar serves as a reminder of what makes the NYS Canal System such an asset for New Yorkers,” said Bob Radliff, executive director of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. “We hope people pick up a calendar and feel inspired to preserve and enjoy this historic waterway.”
The cover image this year is “Tranquility in an Aqueduct” taken by photographer Adam Fine in DeWitt.
