    Heavy snow expected. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Snowfall hourly rates could exceed 2 inches per hour through the evening hours. The snow tapers down this evening. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

14-Year-Old Central NY Teen Injured Fighting Off Burglar

Police say a 14-year-old Onondaga County boy was injured while fighting off a man who broke into his home.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at a residence on Stonefield Road in the town of Onondaga just after 4 Monday morning. Police say the suspect initiated the assault on the teen, who fought back. The alleged intruder then left the home.

While deputies were at the Stonefield residence, another call was dispatched of a burglary on Baily Drive. Once again, when deputies arrived, they found a 40-year-old man with injuries after being attacked by the intruder. The victim also fought back and had to undergo surgery due to injuries he suffered.

The suspect again then left the home before deputies arrived. A short time later, law enforcement spotted a suspect who matched the description of the intruder. He was questioned by detectives and arrested.

Raysean Broadwater was charged with burglary 1st, assault, acting in the act to injure a child, burglary 2nd, assault/intent to cause serious injury with a weapon, burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal tampering, petit larceny, and criminal mischief.

Broadwater is being held at the Onondaga County Jail.
