This week, volunteers with the Central New York Cat Coalition found out about a hoarding situation with more than 115 cats and kittens living in a single bedroom in a Madison County home. Despite the terrible living conditions of these animals, the Coalition said almost all of them are sweet and friendly and craving attention and love. They are dirty and hungry but thankfully were not abused. Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association took 20-30 cats.
The Coalition said it will cost nearly $10,000 to get these cats spayed/neutered and vaccinated, plus other medical care. They will all need loving homes soon! All of the cats are under 2-3 years old.
They added this isn’t about judgment for the people who let this happen (an original small group of cats were not fixed, and continued to breed), this is about helping these cats get the care and love they deserve.
You can email [email protected] to inquire about adoption or about how you can donate toward their care.
Any funds received that exceed the amount required to care for these animals while in foster care will be put into our medical fund to assist other animals in foster care with medical needs.
