A Penn Yan woman was arrested after police stopped her vehicle in the village.
Penn Yan Police say officers noticed a car traveling west on Elm Street Saturday night without its headlights on and pulled it over. The driver was identified as 26-year-old Meriah Brown using her New York State driver’s license.
Police determined that Brown’s driving privileges had been suspended on December 10 for failing to answer a summons. She was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and cited for driving without headlights.
Brown was released with traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
