A Dundee man was arrested earlier this month after he allegedly made a complaint to police regarding a crime that did not occur.
An investigation by the Penn Yan Police Department determined that the report 65-year-old Barry Stryker allegedly gave them revealed the alleged crime to be baseless. The investigation also revealed Stryker purchased the items from the business to submit them to police as alleged evidence.
Stryker was charged with falsely reporting an incident and was ordered to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
