Woman Arrested for Starting Fire at Auburn Apartment

One woman is facing an attempted arson charge after an apartment fire earlier this month in Auburn.

The incident occurred around 6:30p on October 15 when Auburn Police and Fire Departments arrived at the four-unit residence at 138 Cottage Street for the reported fire. Police say an investigation determined the fire was started in the basement by Kira Monroe.

Multiple units were occupied by both children and adults.

Monroe, who was previously a tenant at the apartment, was arrested and charged with attempted arson.
