A joint investigation by the Wayne County Department of Social Services and the Sheriff’s Department resulted in the arrest of a 65-year-old Wolcott woman.
It is alleged that Cynthia Mein, who was a recipient of SNAP and HEAP, did not properly report income she was receiving which violates the rules and regulations of both programs. As a result, Mein allegedly collected $2,201 worth of SNAP benefits and $1,346 worth of HEAP benefits she was not entitled to.
Mein was charged with two counts of welfare fraud, grand larceny, and offering a false instrument for filing charges.
Mein was processed at the Wayne County Jail and was released on an appearance ticket for Lyons Town Court.
