A Wayne County man faces charges following a one-car accident in the town of Huron on Saturday.
Brett Shaffer was involved in an accident on Garner Road in the town of Huron. Police alleged Shaffer had been driving while under the influence of drugs. The 25-year-old was asked to participate in standardized field sobriety testing after being located near the scene of the crash and admitted to having operating the vehicle immediately preceding the crash. Shaffer agreed to participate in the standardized field sobriety testing, which he failed.
Shaffer was brought to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office where he refused to submit to a chemical test of his blood or urine. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and refusal to submit a breath test. The Wolcott resident was also charged with a number of vehicle and traffic violations.
Shaffer as taken to Wayne County Jail for processing and held to await CAP arraignment.
