The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says a Wolcott man was arrested after a traffic stop in the village turned combative.
Deputies say they pulled over 29-year-old Cody Kerr on Washington Street. When the stop was initiated, Kerr allegedly tried to exit his vehicle after pulling into a driveway that turned out to be unrelated to the stop.
During the encounter, deputies say Kerr was verbally and physically uncooperative, at one point attempting to get back into the driver’s seat after exiting the vehicle. He also allegedly tried to pull away from deputies before being taken into custody.
Kerr was charged with obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, and failure to stop when emerging from an alley or driveway.
He was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Wolcott Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
