A joint investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the county’s Department of Social Services resulted in the arrest of a Red Creek woman.
The charges against Samantha Burgin stem from an investigation into a fraud complaint. It’s alleged the 34-year-old did not report household income she was receiving while being a recipient of SNAP. As a result, Burgin collected $6,432.00 in SNAP benefits she was not entitled to.
Burgin was charged with grand larceny and welfare fraud and was being held at the Wayne County Jail pending arraignment.
