The investigation into a fraud complaint by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office with help from the county’s Department of Social Services, has resulted in the arrest of a Red Creek woman.
The charges against Samantha Burgin stem from an investigation into a fraud complaint. It is alleged Burgin did not report the household income she was receiving while being a recipient of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. It is alleged that Burgin collected $3,420 worth of SNAP benefits that she was not entitled to. She was charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.
Burgin was released after her CAPS arraignment.
