A joint investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Social Services has resulted in the arrest of a Red Creek woman.
Marissa Ramos was arrested following an investigation into a welfare fraud complaint where it was alleged she did not report household income while receiving SNAP benefits, which violates the rules and regulations of the program. As a result, Ramos allegedly collected $7,066 worth of SNAP benefits that she was not entitled to.
Ramos was charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.
Ramos was held at the Wayne County Jail to await CAPS arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
