Wayne County Man Faces Charges for Lying About Identity at Accident

SHARE NOW

Police say a Wayne County man is facing charges after he allegedly lied about his identity at the scene of a motor vehicle accident he was involved in.

During the accident investigation on Thursday, Michael Wilson is accused of telling Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies that his name was William Wilson. The accident was taken care of and the vehicle Wilson was driving was towed from the scene. After discovering the cost of the tow bill later that day, a family member became angered with Wilson and a domestic dispute ensued. The same deputy who handled the accident investigation responded to the home and became aware of Wilson’s true identity.

Michael Wilson was arrested on criminal impersonation and obstructing governmental administration charges. Following arraignment, Wilson was released on an appearance ticket for Arcadia Town Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
