A 31-year-old Arcadia man has been arrested following a hit-and-run crash Friday afternoon in the Town of Palmyra.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the area of Route 31 and Vienna Road on June 27 for a reported hit-and-run. While responding, deputies spotted the suspect vehicle traveling west through the Village of Palmyra and stopped it at the intersection of East Main and Church Streets.
The driver, identified as Brian Dejonge, was determined to be impaired by drugs. He was placed under arrest after a Drug Recognition Evaluation and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs (DWI-Drugs), along with several other vehicle and traffic violations related to the crash.
Dejonge was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
