A Wayne County man was indicted this week by a Yates County Grand Jury on two counts of felony rape.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, on March 26th, Elijah Vreeland drove from Savannah to the village of Penn Yan and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl. The victim told police the 27-year-old tracked her location via a social media app. Once inside the teen’s home, Vreeland is accused of sexually assaulting the victim by force.
Vreeland was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to Penn Yan Police.
Following arraignment in Yates County Court, Vreeland was sent to Yates County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
