Wayne County Man Accused of Driving While Impaired by Drugs

SHARE NOW

A Lyons man was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office following a traffic stop on Route 14 in Lyons.

It is alleged that Ronald Rash drove through a business parking lot to avoid an intersection, causing Deputies to initiate a traffic stop. Following roadside Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and a Drug Recognition Expert’s evaluation, it was determined that the 63-year-old was under the influence of drugs. Deputies noted there was a strong odor of burnt cannabis coming from the car, which led to a further investigation into Rash’s level of impairment.

After being processed at the Wayne County Jail on a charge of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Rash was released on an appearance ticket for the Lyons Town Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
