A Watkins Glen man led police on a chase after he was spotted driving a vehicle on State Route 414 in Corning that had been previously reported stolen in the Schuyler County village.
The chase came to an end when 33-year-old Albert Jones lost control of the Dodge Ram pickup and crashed into an apartment building in the city of Corning. Jones took off on foot but was caught. He was taken to Corning Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released.
Jones was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of stolen property and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all felonies, as well as several misdemeanors. State Police say Jones is facing additional charges by New York State Parole for violating the terms and conditions of his parole.
State Police were assisted by the City of Corning Police Department, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Village of Watkins Glen Police Department, and the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.
