A Waterloo woman has been arrested for lying to police about a stolen firearm.
Melissa Woodcock is accused of providing a written statement to Canandaigua Police indicating that her shotgun had been stolen from her home. It was later determined that Woodcock had actually given the firearm to an acquaintance. Woodcock was charged with providing a false written statement and falsely reporting an incident.
Woodcock was released on an appearance ticket for Canandaigua City Court
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
