Waterloo Man Charged With Aggravated DWI After Crash

SHARE NOW

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports the arrest of a Waterloo man following a crash Monday night in the Town of Waterloo.

Deputies say 36-year-old Anthony Iannopollo was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after responding to a property damage accident around 8:55 p.m. on Route 96 near Whiskey Hill Road.

Investigators say Iannopollo drove off the road and into a ditch. Deputies found him inside the vehicle, and he admitted to operating it and losing control. A chemical breath test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

In addition to the DWI charge, Iannopollo was ticketed for speeding and prudent and moving from lane unsafely. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court at a later date.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
